Letter of introduction
communication plans
Student Communication
- I will communicate with my students each day about the daily schedule and upcoming events. If I have concerns about a student, I will meet with them in private and talk about what is going on. I think it is appropriate to establish a plan for how the student and teacher can work together to solve a problem.
- For example, if the student asks to go to the restroom at an inappropriate time every day. We would find a time for the student to use the restroom during a transition time or during recess.
- If it is a larger issue, it could be helpful to have both the student and the parent come into school to discuss the issue.
Parent Communcation
- I will communicate with the parents by sending a weekly newsletter or email update. These updates will include upcoming events, large assignments due, volunteer help and exciting news from our classroom.
- I will contact parents with both the good news and concerns once every two weeks, if not more.
- If a student has a behavioral plan, I will communicate with the parents about the student's behavior every day through using a check in sheet that is sent home for the parents to read and sign.
Caregiver
- I will communicate to a caregiver about the student's behavior through a check-in sheet, after school pick-up or by email when necessary.
other school personnel
I will communicate with school personnel when necessary via email. For students that have BIP (Behavioral Intervention Plans), I will meet with his/her teacher as frequently as once a week to once every two weeks to check-in.
