Classroom enviroment
My classroom will be warm, welcoming and positive. I believe students should feel comfortable, willing to take risks and motivated to learn. I will cultivate this environment by drawing on student's strengths while using positive and negative reinforcement to manage student behavior.
Philosophy of education
The purpose of education is to discover strengths and develop skills in order for students to live a fulfilling life while contributing to society. It is important for students to understand their strengths. Also, education must provide a curriculum that develops skills that will help students in the real world. These tools are crucial when communicating with others in our global society. Education should help cultivate everyone's strengths to work together to build a better world.
Students with exceptionalities
Albert Einstein said it best, "Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid". Understanding that students are unique and learn differently can help educators adapt their instructional methods used in the classroom. I will use a variety of instructional methods that will benefit all types of learners. For example, ELL learners will learn through the use pictures and visuals. I will provide manipulative for students to learn and have a set routine so that expectations are clear and students feel comfortable.
Faith plays a role in education
I believe that every student is different; we have all been created by God to be just the way we are. Education should help cultivate everyone's strengths to work together to build a better world.
